SEMOTO
Born and raised in Switzerland, Theo—known by his artist name Semoto—first found his voice behind a drum kit. A graduate of EJMA (School of Jazz and Contemporary Music), he cut his teeth performing across a range of genres, from hip-hop and indie rock to electronic music, playing in various bands and performing at Switzerland’s most iconic festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and Paleo Festival.
But it was in electronic music production that Semoto discovered a more personal language—one shaped by rhythm, emotion, and atmosphere.
In 2022, he made a bold move: leaving everything behind in Switzerland, he relocated to Portugal with a handful of demos and a head full of new dreams. Today, Semoto crafts music that blends electronica and future bass, layering vocal samples, breakbeat-inspired drum patterns, and lush synths and bass textures. His sound shifts between tension, release, and urgency—a balance of grounded beats and ethereal ambiance.
Semoto’s music reaches toward the horizon—where everything blurs, dissolves, and fades away.
